Dear Flamenco lovers...
The students and I had been really excited waiting for this weekend to come, and finally the results really overcame our expectations.
This perfect weekend started with Leeds Flamenco Festival, where Samuel Moore and I (with the help of Chema at The Instituto Cervantes Leeds and John at Holy Trinity Church) had been working for months getting everything ready to be able to offer a quality show to the audience, as well as an oportunity to the students for sharing what they've achieved through months of hard work. And....what could I say?? The church was absolutely full, almost 200 people supporting Flamenco Art and encouraging us to carry on! Thanks for being there, you made this night magic.
And the students performances were.... SIMPLY AMAZING!! Good technique, good execution and, most important, lots of feeling making them become true artists. CONGRATULATIONS!! looking forward to receiving any videos to share with everybody, the whole world should know about you!
Saturday, regular classes rehearsing Soleá with a special guest from Newcastle Flamenco Collective (welcome Alison and hopefully see you soon, I hope you enjoyed your visit!) and castanets workshop at The Cervantes Institute Open Day. Always lots of fun showing people how to play, I wish we can arrange a proper catanets workshop at any point!
And finally, me and my colleagues at Flamenco Diez got up early on Sunday to reach Hebden Bridge and its cool Arts Festival. Patricia Skeet, Candy Kaiser and the students from the saturday lessons at The Dance Studio Leeds (thanks Katie for your support) were already there waiting for our performance at La Marina. Although the weather was a little too rainy and windy, we all managed to give our best to the lovely audience and make another special flamenco journey. Well done!
For those who couldn't be there, here you have a very small sample of what happened. In a few days hopefully will be able to post the videos with the students. Meanwhile, enjoy the soleá!
More flamenco soon.
Feel the passion. Feel the dance.
